TLIAMURA, May 16 (TIWN): While checking the vehicle on Sunday the traffic police led by ASI Vijay Das of Teliamura Traffic Unit recovered 476 kg of dried cannabis with an estimated market value of around Rs 25 lakh at Hawai bari.
The vehicle was suspiciously checked while checking the documents of the six-wheeler lorry number MH04JK8349. It was loaded with empty bags of cement and dried cannabis in the middle of those bags. The ASI other traffic police detained the vehicle. Traffic DSP Bikramjit Shukla Das, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sona Charan Jamatia, Teliamura Police Station OC Naru Gopal Dev, and a large TSR and police force rushed to the spot and arrested three people in the vehicle named Ram Binoy Sharma of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Santosh Kumar of Sultanpur, UP, and Kapil Kumar from Harimoni District, Bihar.
After interrogation, it was revealed that the vehicle was registered to a private company called L&T Private Limited located at Agartala Bypass and was going to Howrah in Kolkata with the empty bags of cement and cannabis.
More Details : According to the details of the incident, unlike every other day the traffic police of Teliamura Traffic Unit was checking the vehicles at Naka Point, Hawaibari on Sunday morning. While checking the documents of a six-wheeler lorry registered number-MH04JK8349, but based on suspicion police started searching the 6-wheeler vehicle and recovered a huge amount of dried cannabis. The vehicle was loaded with empty bags of cement and carried 476 kg of dried cannabis in the middle of the vehicle under the sack with the intention of smuggling in other states. The news was given to Teliamura PS, Traffic DSP, Bikramjit Shukla Das, SDPO, Sona Charan Jamatia, Teliamura PS, OC Naru Gopal Deb and a large TSR and police force rushed to the spot. The police seized 476 kg dried cannabis which estimated price around Rs 25 lakhs In this huge amount of drug smuggling case police arrested three, Ram Binoy Sharma resident of Azamgarh (UP), Santosh Kumar resident of Sultanpur(UP) and Kapil Kumar Harimoni District of Bihar and brought them to Teliamura PS. After investigation it came to know that the vehicle was going to Howrah in Kolkata with empty bags of cement including 476kg cannabis from L&T Private Ltd. Co. located at Agartala Bypass. Teliamura SDPO, Sona Charan Jamatia said that the police would take action against the private company after proper investigation, if the company would be found guilty.
OC Sona Charan Jamatia added that the police would take strong action against the private company after the investigation.
