AGARTALA, May 11 (TIWN): Amid allegations against Ratanlal Nath's nexus with Mohanpur based Drug empire, now the Minister's one relative has been arrested under NDPS Act with huge amounts of drugs seized from his home at Mohanpur (Constituency of Minister Ratanlal Nath). Based on secret information, police raided the house of Jitesh Choudhury, S/O Mohan lal Choudhury, Gangagatipur, Mohanpur and seized huge amounts of narcotic items. The seized items are : 1) Ganja 20kg 2) 260 gram suspected brown sugar packed in 25 soap cases, 3) Cash of Rs.1 lakh 10 thousand. The accused Jitesh Choudhury is detained and brought to SDI PS alongwith recovered items and will be produced before the court. A specific case under NDPS Act is regd at SDI PS under sec 21c/20(b)(c)/25/29 ndps act has been filed against Jitesh and also his brother. The arrested person is a relative of Law Minister Ratanlal Nath, the local MLA of Mohanpur. 

The Mohanpur area has turned the den for smuggling and also mafia-raj has hit the law and order of the constituency. Before the ADC poll result day, Ratanlal Nath's party workers held severe attacks on a candidate of the opposition, who later won the election.

In cases of drug smuggling with political muscle in Tripura, it has been noticed that most of the politically powered drug smugglers are under shelter of the BJP party. Huge numbers of BJP members across the state were found with their involvement in drug-rackets.

On the one side, Biplab Deb Govt hypes about "Nesha Mukt Tripura" but in reality, the state has turned into a drug den led by the ruling party's people. In 2019, BJP top-leader's brother's vehicle had smashed a police official at Boxonagar during drug smuggling but has not been taken under action though his vehicle was seized by police. 

Also cash amounts were seized from Jitesh Choudhury's home.
