AGARTALA, April 24 (TIWN): Preparedness for COVID-19 Second Wave goes at Full Wave at Medical Oxygen Manufacturing Units in Tripura. Medical Oxygen manufacturing units are reportedly working 24 hours and like 2020, they are working in same way but last time, they were not prepared whereas this time, they have the experience of the previous year, said an employees of Bodhjungnagar oxygen manufacturing unit named 'Tripura Air Product Manufacturer Unit'. However, from Health Dept to Manufacturing units workers, all are confident that Tripura will not suffer through Oxygen shortage. Last year during COVID-19 technical problems erupted in GB hospital which created chaos but this year, there would not be that type of problems, said a source.

Problem with India right now is about the container shortage.

Prime Minister has asked states to form panels to ensure there is no oxygen shortage regardless state's names. As many as 20 critically-ill COVID-19 patients died at Jaipur Golden Hospital in the national capital on Friday night due to low stock of oxygen. The hospital on Saturday morning also have oxygen for only 45 minutes and they sought for urgent government help.

Health secretary Rajesh Bhushan wrote to states on Sunday saying other sectors should consider measures such as importing oxygen or setting up their own air separator units to meet requirements.

He said the move was necessitated as the DPIIT suggested that demand for medical oxygen had surged to almost 60% of the daily oxygen production and was expected to rise further. Already, several states such as Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, among others, have seen a major spike.
