AGARTALA, April 22 (TIWN): Supreme Court on Thursday took the suo moto cognisance of the several High Court hearings underway regarding Covid-19 preparedness across the country. The Court also issued a notice to the Centre on the supply of Covid care essentials, such as oxygen and medicines. Noting that India was currently facing a national emergency-like situation, the SC bench led by Chief Justice SA Bobde asked the Centre to submit its plan on Covid preparedness, including the details of the nationwide vaccination drive plan."We have 4 issues primarily in mind - supply of oxygen, supply of essential drugs and manner of vaccination," said the CJI. The top court has also said that it will examine the judicial power of HCs to declare lockdown amid a massive surge in the number of COVID-19 cases.
Oxygen spplies crisis have remained a critical issue for the states. In Tripura also, in 2020 due to Oxygen issues many patients died. Though comparison to other states, the cases yet less but withing a week, COVID positive cases have gone up.
Yesterday, Tripura Health Dept issued a notification directing the passengers who will be coming to Tripura from 24th April must carry COVID Negative test report in hands or they will undergo COVID-test in the Agartala MBB Airport.
