AGARTALA, April 20 (TIWN): Like every year, Kumari Puja was held on the day of Maha-Astami. In Anandamayi Asram also, the ritual was followed.

According to Mythology, Basanti puja started in prehistoric times when the Indian saints started celebration of the festival in this season for peace.

At that time the goddess had asked the saints to worship her in the form of Kumari or virgin who later grows to mother and hence this ritual started.

It is believed that King Surath and Samadhi Vaishya met Medha Muni while they were wandering in the forests after losing their kingdoms. Medha Muni suggested to them to perform Basanti Durga Puja to get back their lost kingdoms.

Due to COVID-19, no gathering was allowed in this puja festival and those who joined the rituals had to maintain social distances and wore masks. "Mantra", "Dhaak '' and other traditional rituals have marked the festival.

No Devotee was Allowed inside the Temple, Pushpanjali offered from outside with Social distancing.

Thus, this year Tripura's spring festival Basanti Durga puja was observed in isolation in Agartala's Royal Durga Bari with Covid-19 outbreak.Basanti Durga Puja – is celebrated in Spring (Basant).

As Tripura COVID cases are around 400, Dist Administration and Temple authority both have tightened the Temple premises to ensure that the COVID guidelines were followed. But in compare to yesterday, crowd was more visible today in Durga Bari.
