AGARTALA, March 14 (TIWN): The hill people blocked national highway for over three hours demanding drinking water and electricity in 36-mile area of Atharamura hill.

The locals expressed annoyance and said that the BJP-IPFT led government gave them no facilities since it came in power although IPFT won seats after using them as vote banks.

 In most of the rural areas, it was seen that the state government has failed to provide drinking water, electricity, and education services. In March 2020, residents of Birmanipara village under Amarpur RD Block even threatened to boycott the forthcoming election of the TTADC for facing the same issue which is causing serious resentment among the hill people.
