AGARTALA, March 11 (TIWN): After Udaipur, now brutal attacks on opposition CPI-M members took place in Belonia today where the BJP activists were caught on camera while stone pelting in MLA Sudhan Das's house lined areas and spotted beating CPI-M activists. Talking to the media, CPI-M MLA Sudhan Das said, "Today 5 units of the Left Front gathered to hold a rally with various demands including some local demands at Belonia, Rajanagar. Our plan was to end the programme shortly as Police requested us to complete the programme soon. But as soon as the programme had started, BJP activists started stone pelting and many were injured in this attack. Total 5 persons were injured and two seriously wounded named 1) Prasenjit Das, 2) Khokon Debnath. This attak escalated up to my home and bricks were thrown at my home too".Â
"We all took shelter in my home and slowly we started dispersing the activists but when Prasenjit Das and Sudhit Munda were going on a bike, they were again attacked. Anyhow, they entered Rajnagar town. Chandramohan Bhil who did not join the rally but came for a work in the market was also beaten. His money was taken away along with his mobile. Most horrifying part of the attack was the BJP set fire in Rajnagar Party office which could destroy the whole area, market and homes", said Sudhan Das.
"People here are living in pathetic situations. Social pensions are stopped, MGNREGA crisis going on but the Govt has no concern. Various pending works are left. So many buildings in office, schools are left incomplete though funds were cleared in the CPI-M Govt's time. With all issues, we held the gathering today and that's why BJP held such brutal attacks. We demand strict action against such culprits", the MLA added.
