AGARTALA, December 9 (TIWN): “To be a good student one must be first of all a good human being,†said Chief Minister Manik Sarkar while addressing in the inaugural ceremony of administrative block and knowledge park of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, here today.
"One important aspect for being a good citizen is to help people. All around us, we can see there are always people in need for our help. Our job as good citizens is to help those kinds of people. Another important thing we have to remember for being a good citizen is to have an active participation in our community. There are a lot of ways we can do that. Respect is one of the most important bases when living in a society, he mentioned".
While addressing in the ceremony Director of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, Professor Gopal Mugeraya said that NIT Agartala was Tripura Engineering College before April 2006 and after that it was converted into NIT Agartala. NIT, Agartala has not only lived up to the expectations of a Nation poised to achieve new zeniths of academic achievements and technological advancement in the present millennium but has been successful in establishing itself as an exemplary model of motivation and aspiration to follow for the upcoming NITs, he added. NIT Agartala has broken a lot of impediments on the trajectory of its desire in becoming a Centre of excellence by perusing a holistic approach to the cause of academic and social prosperity in the North East, he mentioned.
It is a proud moment for us to say that among the 20 NITs across the country we are the fastest growing and have spent maximum amount of money we got as fund and have shown that capability to spend the money not only for infrastructure but also for academic development. We are providing better placement and the students are getting jobs in very good companies, the director added.
Minister for Power Manik Dey and other dignitaries were present in the inaugural ceremony.
