AGARTALA, December 9 (TIWN): Due to the lack of infrastructure and negligence of AMC a dangerous situation was occurred in Radhanagar area, here today. On Tuesday morning, while the repairing work of drain was in process, suddenly the line of the pipeline gas was cut which created emission of gas.
The TNGCL workers rushed to the spot and saved the whole area from a major mishap, said Chief Engineer of TNGCL, Prasenjit Purakayastha while speaking to the TIWN and claimed that AMC workers are engaged in cutting the water lines, drain lines without any basic infrastructure, which had created a possibility of something destructive in many areas of the city.
It is the duty of the AMC to look after the infrastructure, so that pipeline gas and water supply line are not be laid in the same way. But AMC lacks in this case and was giving illegal permission to construct both the lines in the same way. If this process continues, in future the whole Agartala city would fall in danger and there would be a devastating effect of this.
It is to be mentioned here that Tripura Natural Gas Company Ltd (TNGCL) is all set to bring at least 25000 household under pipe line cooking gas supply network by next year and entire households Agartala Municipal Council (AMC) area will be covered by 2018-19.
The administration had been trying to make the city green by reducing the use of cooking gas cylinders and use of petrol and diesel in automobiles. “Rate of CNG conversion of vehicles in last financial year in Agartala has been registered second highest in the country after Maharashtra and as a result, level of vehicular pollution in the city is reduced substantially,” He pointed that TNGCL was in the process of spreading gas pipeline network about 350 kilometer area of AMC and from next year there would be on demand pipeline connection in the city, which is now covered about 12000 odd families.
