AGARTALA, Feb 26 (TIWN): Three people were attacked by fancy drug mafia for obstructing the trafficking trade. The incident took place on Wednesday in Rangamura area under Rajnagar PS in Belonia sub-division. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Gomati District Hospital.

According to the details of the incident, some smugglers were smuggling drugs illegally with Bangladesh through the house of Ebadul Hossain in Indo-Bangla border area. The house owner, Ebadul Hossain and other members of the house obstructed them many times before, but no effect was seen. Despite repeated reports to Rajnagar PR Bari PS from the locals including Ebadul Hossain, the Police did not take any action. On Thursday the house owner blocked the road, later the drug smugglers got angry and beat Ebadul Hossain and his brother Abdul Hossain with sticks and rods, and broke their heads. A young man named Mir Hossain was attacked by drug traffickers while trying to save the two brothers. Later the assailants fled away from the spot.

The injured were taken to Belonia hospital later they were referred to Udaipur Gomti District Hospital for better treatment.

Several cases earlier filed in PR Bari police station against the drug smuggler, Shahid Mia, Mannan Mia, Khalil Mia, Tajul Islam but nothing has happened. As a result, an innocent family was attacked by drug mafias last night.

Now, it remains to be seen whether the police and the administration will take action against the drug dealers or the case will be settled in exchange of cash.
