AGARTALA, Feb 20 (TIWN): Expressing concerns about the "expected" Election Rigging as Tripura in last 3 years has witnessed heavy election rigging, violence against opposition candidates forcing them to withdraw nominations, booth capturing and gross violation of model code of conducts by ruling party, the Opposition CPI-M has told the State Election Commission to ensure a Free and Fair Election in the upcoming ADC poll. State Election Commission authorities met today the political parties separately seeking suggestions for the upcoming Elections. During that meeting, CPI-M delegates told the Election Commissioner about the unfair elections from campaigning to vote casting.
Addressing media, CPI-M senior leader, Convener Bijan Dhar said, "We have told the Election Commission for proper arrangement of securities, central forces in election days".
"Voters should be allowed to cast their and the political parties must be allowed to do campaigning without disturbance", he added.
"During Lok Sabha Election our candidate Jitendra Choudhury was attempted to be murdered. This culture needs to be changed. We have also referred how the crimes and violence are going on and thus the Election Commission has to be strict and huge securities need to be deployed", said Bijan Dhar.
CPI-M also demanded an All-Party-Meeting for further clarifications, so that all the parties can know what talks are going on and what are the allegations and demands.
