AGARTALA, Dec 29 (TIWN): Minister of Health Biplab Kumar Deb claimed several times that a new revolution is taking place in health service in Tripura. Patients are coming here from different states to get high-quality medical services. The extent to which this claim of the Hon'ble Minister is baseless can be understood after visiting the hospitals.
Dhalai District Hospital is involved in various problems since its establishment. Patients seeking health care are becoming more ill due to inadequate health services. Dirty water from toilet is coming out in cabin shots of the hospital due to which patients are unable to take advantage of the cabin even after paying Rs. 150 per day.
The district hospital at Kulai was inaugurated on September 14, 2012, by the then Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and former Health Minister Tapan Chakraborty. The construction work of this three-storied hospital was commissioned by HSCL Company. The quality of work is so low that in eight years the building has collapsed. Medical superintendent of the hospital is not able to sit in his room because the water in the upper floor toilet is leaking through his roof.
Meanwhile, after MLA of 48th Legislative Assembly visited the hospital, the MS informed him about the problem.
People who are coming for treatment are terrified to see the cracks in the building because an accident can happen at any time. On the other hand, Dhalai District Hospital does not have enough doctors. Existing doctors are doing extra duty to serve the patients.
A private company is in charge of security at Dhalai District Hospital. The number of security personnel was about forty but according to the tender, held a few days ago, only 29 security personnel can work there thus increasing rate of unemployment in the state.
Amid such terrific situations, most patients are not visiting the Hospital as they do not get proper services.
