AGARTALA, Dec 28 (TIWN): SFI / TSU / DYFI / TYF called protest rally and gave deputation at Police HQ to condemn Tripura polices’ paralyzed role in BJP’s series of attacks.

The organizations claimed that soon after forming new Government, anti-social elements of BJP are attacking the opposition party and its leaders on daily basis.

Earlier this week, BJP’s hired criminals performed a series of attacks on opposition leaders and activists, vandalized their house, smashed window glass on a child by pelting stones, set their vehicles on fire.

On Dec 20, the miscreants brutally attacked DYFI’s convention held at senior leader, Pabitra Kar’s home. Aside from activists, 3 journalists were also assaulted when they went for coverage.

While addressing a press meet today, Kar said, “After both Khayerpur and Ramnagar incident, I have called the police 8-10 times in a row. On one hand, the BJP is attacking and on other hand, the police were supporting them. One incident after another is happening but the police have no role to play. The anti-social elements of BJP attacked in front of the police but the police took no action.”

“The depth of these events was very well planned yet we want to know from the Director-General of Police if we have the right to defend ourselves because the incidents took place in front of the police,” Kar added.

He also alleged that after BJP’s open threat to kill him, Kar filed an FIR at West PS but the investigation is yet to start.

After the procession, the leaders gave a deputation to the Superintendent of Police of West District. They appealed to the state administration to take immediate action, otherwise, they will go for a bigger movement in the coming days.
