AGARTALA, Nov 6 (TIWN): After SP West Manik Das briefed media on crime rates, claiming crimes are reducing in Tripura, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has taken a dig at the Govt alleging it forced the police officer to deliver such statements which has no match with reality. "Police turned Ridiculous by stating Crime decreased in State because when law and order is out of control, via Police Dept the Govt is trying to hide its failure", such has been commented by former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar followed by SP West Manik Das's statement. Manik Sarkar reminded about the percentage of unlodged FIRs in police stations and 17 political murders in state. "Journalists are beaten physically, many are unable to go to the Police stations. Across state, numbers of crimes are on spike but police are not taking complaints and in few cases, if they take complaints then hooligans are entering home asking to withdraw complaints. Lawyers, who gives legal supports to people are beaten in broad day light inside the court and police can't arrest the criminals . In such a state, police's statement about crime reduction is utterly ridiculous".
