AGARTALA, Oct 30 (TIWN): As the sparkling lights, beautifully crafted traditional "alpona" and festive zeal of Kojagari Lakshmi puja takes over the melancholy of Bijoya Dashmai (due to the going away of Ma Durga for another year), the Eastern part of the country celebrates this prominent festival on the Shukla Paksha of the Ashwin month. House to house Goddess Lakhsmi was worshipped in Tripura and Anjali was offered to Goddess Lakhsmi after whole day's fasting followed by Lakhsmi-Panchali was read across houses. This year Kojagari Lakshmi puja also known as Sharad Purnima falls on 30th October 2020 and continues till 31st October 2020.

According to Hindu mythology on this day the moon rises with 16 kalas that defines human personality and it is believed that worshipping Maa Lakshmi on this creates a perfect human personality. It is also believed that following the rituals and fasting on this day brings a wave of happiness, good health, wealth and prosperity for the family.This year Sharad Purima tithti begins at 5:45 PM on Oct 30, 2020 and continues till 8:18 PM on Oct 31, 2020, according to the Drik Pancahng.

It is believed that preparing kheer made with rice, gur and milk is prepared and served to the deity as it brings harmony in the relationships and prosperity in the family. To make an indulgent rice kheer, just wash and soak 1 cup gobindobhog rice for 3 hours. Next, take a saucepan and add 1 ½ litre milk and keep stirring it. In the meantime, wash the soaked rice and add in 3 tablespoon of ghee and mix it nicely and keep aside.
