UDAIPUR (Tripura), Oct 24 (TIWN): Queues were observed at Udaipur Matabari temple for Darshan & paying offers to Tripura Sundari Devi on the occasion of auspicious Maha Astami. However, due to COVID-19, this year crowd remained very minimum and all guidelines were followed with social distancing and people are also chosing to enjoy virtual Durga puja. In early morning devotees had holy bath in Kalyansagar (the big lake in the temple premise) & Ma Kali who is also another form of Devi Durga has been worshiped with full devotion. Tripura Sundari Temple is a Hindu temple of Goddess Tripura Sundari, better known locally as Devi Tripureshwari. The temple is situated in the ancient city of Udaipur, about 55 km from Agartala.
When princely Tripura signed the instrument of accession with the Government of India on October 15, 1949, it was agreed that daily work at Durgabari temple, Tripureswari Kali Temple at Udaipur in Gomati district and some other temples would be funded and looked after by the state government. In various temples, Kumari puja was also observed with full devotion.
