AGARTALA, Aug 17 (TIWN): With no grand celebrations for this year’s Durga Puja in West Bengal, the impact likely to hit Tripura as the pandemic is still on peak causing 59 deaths in state! ‘Toned down’ Durga Puja festival to be organized this year, but Pandals will not be cancelled, said a local club member in Agartala. However, from Tripura Govt nothing has been declared yet about how the Durga puja might be held this year. Already Manasa Puja started the festival atmosphere in state but no social gathering was observed in COVID-threat. The coronavirus-induced global health pandemic and the consequent lockdown will lead to a toned down Durga Puja festival this year and business has no boost this year yet. Talking to some shop-keepers at the Sankuntala market area, they alleged a devastating situation and no hope of recovery in the festival season also. One of the businessmen who is also a resident of that area said, if things go like this, they might not able to continue to shop in rent as massive losses are going on and many workers are left in homes.
Demands of garments may be affected with two reasons : One is the economic crisis and Second is the public self-motivated limiting the outing in puja nights may cause less demands this year.
Other programmes including Independence Day remained a profitless time for the business including thousands of tailors were seated at homes.
