4 Persons arrested for Spitting on Doctor at Bhagat Singh COVID-19 Care Centre : Accused Karnajit Dey, Bisawajit Das, Milan Das, Ranjit Saha grilled in NCC PS

AGARTALA, Aug 4 (TIWN): Four persons have been arrested for spitting on Doctor at Bhagat Singh COVID-19 Care Centre and two more persons were arrested for stopping Govt Medical team’s works at Hapania COVID-19 Care Centre in the last month. The arrested persons for Hapania incident are : 1) Abijit Das (Llitan), 2) Bijoy Das. They were taken to Amtali PS. The other four persons who were arrested for Hapania incident are : 1) Bisawajit Das, 2) Milan Das, 3) Karnajit Dey, 4) Ranjit Saha taken to NCC PS. However, in Hapania, which incident actually was referred, it was not clarified by Police yet, but recently there was a protest in Hapania after a patient was injured and demanding his shift to better hospital the other patients held protests. There are many such tensions erupted during the COVID-19 management in COVID-Centers. Four COVID-19 patients were booked after they allegedly abused and spat on a woman doctor at a health facility here on July 24.

 A police official said that the four accused, who have recovered from the disease, are arretsed after the completion of their seven-day institutional quarantine period. 

"Some coronavirus patients on July 24 spat at and aggressively abused West Tripura District Health Surveillance Officer Sangita Chakraborty at a Covid care centre in Agartala when she had gone there on Friday to admit five women who had given birth to babies a day before," the police officer said.

Chakraborty also told the media: "One of the patients rinsed his mouth and spat on my head from the roof of the Covid care centre, forcing me to rush inside the centre."

She said they had reached the care centre with a health department team and police personnel to admit the new patients when a group of people, men and women, obstructed and falsely claimed that there were no vacant beds in the centre.
