SANTIR BAZAR (South Tripura), June 5 (TIWN): South Tripura’s farmers are reeling under massive losses as rain has destroyed their grains and damaged the harvested items in two phases of raining. A large area of the South Tripura has gone under water whereas the devastated farmers have demanded State Govt’s notice into the matter and paying proper compensations. Recently, in another flash of rains and flood, the vegetables cultivation of the farmers left fully damaged, whereas now this rain has damaged the grains further. Amid lockdown period such situations have caused double losses to the farmers of the state. As the grains are now under water, thus the farmers are unable to lift their harvested items, left rotten. Moreover, the administration has decided to shift the local market for social distancing but it has caused more worries for the farmers.
The Santir Bazar market is being shifted to Santir Bazar H.S.School field. Although, it was a fair done on behalf of the administration, but for businessmen it is a loss as they alleged that due to extreme heat, their vegetable items are damaging and they are unable to store the freshness, till sold.

With all these, the vegetable and crop dealers, farmers are having tough times due to lockdown.
