AGARTALA / CHENNAI, May 20 (TIWN): A video went viral where migrant workers of Tripura seen in miserable conditions without any financial help, missed train and no support from the Tripura Govt further suffered from police’s lathi-charge. The people talked in the video alleged that they are left on road without getting any help from the Govts and it has been around 3 to 4 days that they are road but now have no money for food also. “Whenever we call the Tripura Govt call centre, they only promise us to give financial helps, but no help was given. I never appealed for anything in my life with so many times with written applications, how I wrote to the Govt now for money. We have come to the station, but train did not take us, rather police imposed lathi-charge on us. Who will take our responsibility now ?â€, said a stranded man there.
“What the Tripura Govt is doing ? When election will start then, they will give us 10 trains !”, the suffered worker said.
“On 16, 17, 18th May, continuously dates are postponing. We walked over 150 km and we came to the station by feet. Now also left our hotels. Who will take the responsibility ? What is our fault ? To be a citizen of Tripura is a fault ?”, said the stranded workers.
Among the stranded people, women were, children were also seen. For 3 days, these people are living in half-stomachs.
All of them said that they were writing letter to the Tripura Govt continuously but no help was given.
“We just want to go back to home. Nothing we got. No money, no food”, said a woman on road with tears on eyes.
“We are on road for over 3 to 4 days. They do not accept our calls and when call back only gives assurance. Police are also not helping. Other states people are not in such miserable condition like us”, said a man.
They also slammed Law Minister Ratanlal Nath for his empty promises.
However, from State Govt, it was said that already Rs. 8 crores from CM relief fund was expended in public welfare, although no balance sheet was shown.
