KAMALPUR, Nov 17 (TIWN): Nabbed after long 18 years, rape-accused Liton Das of Kalachari No. 2 was sent to 7 days’ jail custody by the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, here at Kamalpur today.

After completion of 1 day’s JC police today forwarded to the Court of ADJ. After hearing the case the Court sent him for further jail custody of 7 days. He would be produced to the Court on 25^th November next. It is notable that, Liton and his friend Anup of Kalachari kidnapped one 12 years old girl from Halhali and raped her way back on 4^th September, 1996. Accordingly, the parents of the girl filed a case (No. 61/96) under 366 A and 376(2)(G) of IPC with Kamalpur Police Station. Accordingly police netted the duo. But after getting bail, Liton absconded. However, Anup suffered imprisonment. But Liton remained out of the caught of police. At last, acting on a tip-off, the ASI of Kamalpur Police Station Maniklal Mohanta netted Liton from his salon at Nishanpara under Collegetilla Outpost on15th November last. Yesterday Liton was produced before the Court of SDJM and was sent to 1 day’s JC. Today he was produced before the Court of ADJ and was sent to 7 days’ jail custody. He would be produced before the Court again on 25^th November next.
