AGARTALA, May 8 (TIWN): COVID19’s viral spike in Tripura within 3 days from zero to 86 active cases not only shocking in North East but a sharp contrast in comparison to other States in India. On Friday morning, Chief Minister Biplab Deb garlanded the statue of Rabindranath Tagore on the occasion of his 159th Birthday at Rabindra Kanan, after that CM stressed upon the need to defeat COVID19 just like first 2 cases, where patients were fully recovered. Tripura Govt is well prepared to tackle 86 COVID19 cases in GB Hospital, also State Govt made all arrangements for this Medical emergency.While addressing on the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti at Rabindra Kanan, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has stressed on curing all the patients and to defeat COVID19, appreciating State Health workers’ day-night efforts to fight COVID19.
Addressing media, CM said, “There is no case of COVID19 among the civilians and all the patients are from BSF Battalions which are in a same place. Ofcourse it is a matter of concern but I hope the patients will be recovered in a very short period of time”.“Our health workers are working day-right along with police personnel and administration. The way we cured the previous two persons, in the same way, we will fight COVID and send the Jawans to their residents soon”, said CM.
CM replying media questions, said, “GB hospital is the zone of COVID19 and sufficient arrangements are there but what more can be done, State Govt is working in that direction. I think we have sufficient arrangement and Central Govt is also cooperating a lot. I hope we will overcome the situation soon”.
No civilian is now COVID19 infected in Tripura and all the 88 cases has remained limited to BSF 86th Bn.
Earlier, in 186th Bn on May 1st, two positive cases were reported first. As soon as the two persons were taken to GB hospital, Health Dept brought suspected COVID-Positive persons in quarantine immediately.
CM announced, 24 persons from 86th-Bn #BSF Ambassa found #COVID19 POSITIVE today. Total #COVID19 patients in Tripura now stands: 88. Active cases: 86, Discharged: 02 There is no POSITIVE case among civilians”, adding, “Stay Safe”. Tripura has now total 86 active cases as COVID19 positive.
All were residing under 86th Bn at Ambassa (Dhalai District). It was the same place where on May 1st, two positive cases were reported from 186th Bn. As soon as the two persons were taken to GB hospital, Health Dept brought suspected COVID-Positive persons in quarantine immediately.
Tripura Govt on the other side, directed BSF IG to provide information about COVID19 patients and cases. The information was sought for : 1) The origin of the cases, 2) Steps taken by BSF authorities to further prevent spread of Corona virus to general public.
