AGARTALA, May 5 (TIWN): In a shocking allegation raised by an ambulance driver, who carried 5 COVID19 positive patients from Ambassa to GB hospital, said that he was forced to stop his ambulance two points by the patients and when he tried to advise them, they shouted against him asking, whether they are animals ? The patients stopped in those places and took rests (those are forest like areas). Reportedly, then the windows were kept open and they also spitted outside on road. However, it was informed that the patients were already brought on yesterday night but today it is clear that all the patients were not brought yesterday in GB hospital quarantine centre. On being asked by media, why the ambulance window was open, the driver said that the patients complained that they were having breathing problem and thus forced to open the windows. Out of fear, the driver could not say anything to the BSF COVID positive patients. The driver also informed, after crossing Mungiakami the patients stopped once and before Champaknagar they stopped for the second time.

“I have brought 5 patients from BSF camp but they alleged lack of oxygen and opened the windows. I told them to keep the windows close but they shouted on me, asking, whether they are animals that they were brought like this. Then the patients warned him, if windows are not allowed to keep open, then they will come down of the vehicle. Thus, I had to stay silent”, said the driver.

The driver also said that he was alone in the vehicle as a staff and rest of all were patients. No security persons were across them, neither any health dept staff. When demanded an assistant, he was said to go alone and drop the patients anyhow. No assistant was given with him.

Total 27 cases are now active in Tripura tested from May 1st to may 4th. All the patients belong to BSF 138 Bn. Among them, 2  are kids.
