AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): The uncontrolled gathering before liquor shops is not a sole problem of Tripura, but across the state, similar issues erupted.

With MHA ordering relaxations, liquor shops have been opened up across the country but with some strict guidelines of social distancing. However, photos and videos from Delhi, Karnataka and other parts of the country show little of these norms are being followed by people.

Delhi Police lathi-charged at the gathering that had accumulated outside a liquor shop in Kashmere Gate. The police dispersed the crowd as they were flouting social distancing norms.

On being asked by media about the gathering issue, Tripura Law Minister Ratanlal Nath said, “Whatever central govt says, we will follow. People of Tripura are not outside of India. Whatever guideline comes from the Centre, Tripura also will follow the same. Let the centre decide what to do. I will not make any comment about the decision but I am sure, centre has taken the decision after talking to experts”.

After long queues outside liquor shops in the national capital took social distancing norms for a ride, the Resident Welfare Associations (RWA's) in the city have urged the government to immediately close down all liquor vends and review arrangements.

Several Resident Welfare Associations in Delhi have strongly objected to opening of liquor shops in most parts of the city despite entire Delhi being declared as a Red Zone with over 4,459 coronavirus cases .
