AGARTALA, Nov 16: In a new twist, after a slumber of around two months from lodging FIR, police netted two close aides of scamster Bimal Chakraborty- GRS Shayamal Debbarma and GRS Sarada Debbarma into the multi-crore MGNREGA scam of Bishalghar block. But more 9 FIR named accused persons are still at large. According to the police, in the wee-hours of Saturday night, police nabbed them from a ganja (cannabis) plantation at Boxanagar area. Police would produce them before the SDJM court, Bishalghar today. According to the sources, police are likely to submit the charge-sheet soon.According to the sources, police are taking special care of scamster Bimal in the name interrogation due to his close relationship with Melarmath. The sources also confirmed that kingpin Bimal did not inform any name of political leader during the interrogation in police remand. He has allegedly informed names of a former DM and a SDM including some higher officials.The 9 other FIR named persons are: Nibas Pal, Jr Mechanic, Kishore Kr Banik, Jr Engineer, Partha Sarkar. Jr Mechanic, Gautam Pal, Work Assistant, Debaprasad Nandi, Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS), Subir Ukil, Work Assistant, Traun Kanti Sen, Panchayat Secretary, Mita Malakar. Jr Engineer and Chayan Nandi, Technical Assistant.

The kingpin Bimal Chakraborty, who had surrendered before the SDJM court of Bishalghar on October 23 under the direction of Melarmath following enormous pressure from public, different political parties and media publications, is in 14 days jail custody (JC) now. He will be produced before the court on October 18. A section of public has marked the surrender of Bimal as a “got up” match between police and Bimal. Earlier, Scamster Bimal was suspended from the post of Deputy Director of ICA department by the state government.

In a recent past, adding more woes to the CPI-M led state government, separate Public interest Litigations (PILs) were filed at Tripura High Court seeking CBI probe into the multicrore MGNREGA scam in Bishalghar RD block.
