AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, April 23 (TIWN): COVID19's spread in neighboring country Bangladesh spikingup, Bangladesh to extend Lockdown up to 5th May to control cases. Earlier, with media reports on Bangladesh “not maintaining enough lockdown”, 3 sided border lined Indian state with Bangladesh, Tripura’s Govt called people for “Janata Patrolling” over Bangladesh borders to stop illegal intrusion along with BSF led patrolling on borders. Now, with the increasing cases in Bangladesh, the patrolling becomes more important here as Bangladesh also has decided to extend its lockdown period till 5th May. Bangladesh will extend the nationwide shutdown of offices and workplaces till May 5 amid a worsening coronavirus outbreak, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said on Wednesday. Bangladesh registered 10 more deaths from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the count to 120 on Wednesday.Another 390 people tested positive for the virus from 3,096 samples in the same period as the tally of confirmed cases surged to 3,772.

Already, Tripura’s Chief Minister Biplab Deb led Home dept has tightened border patrolling with Bangladesh.

The Government of Tripura had also appealed the masses to strictly observe border areas by not allowing any outside to enter in the state amid COVID19 pandemic.

On 19th April addressing the state’s people, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “Via media reports, it was disclosed that Bangladesh is not maintaining social distances. Bangladesh is a friendly country of India but in this crisis situations, we, the people of Tripura have to be more tough against any illegal entries from that country. Home Dept has beefed up border securities but that is not enough. Tripura has huge unfenced border areas, hill-tracks, with high possibility of illegal entries which needs to be stopped by the common men. Along with BSF, public have to keep vigil all the time on border lines”.

From Govt sides, time to time, awareness is being done in Bangladesh border areas, requesting them not to allow any outsider to enter here.
