AGARTALA, April 19 (TIWN): Tripura Govt has kept a budget of Rs. 3.88 crores for COVID19 pandemic led ‘stuck in people’ of the state Tripura in other states, who could not return Tripura due to unprecedented lockdown, which is going to continue till May 3rd. On this issue Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “The people who are stuck in other states from Tripura are being helped by the Govt as much as possible. Till now 22 lakhs 7 thousands have been the expenditure in that purpose. Till now 1779 persons are getting relief pensions 43 lakhs 75 thousands rupees. Total 3 crore 88 lakhs budget is kept to utilize in this purpose. For residence Rs. 1000 per day and for food Rs. 150 are being provided. If someone left out from the benefit, s/he will also get the pending amount in time. Because, Govt has to do the proper verification".

"If someone asks money, I can give from my own pocket for a person but Govt’s money can not be given without verification or it will lead to corruption. This strict step was necessitated because it has been seen that a section of people are trying to take advantage of this situation. Sitting in Agartala, asking money for them but after location tracking it is being seen that they are not outside but here in Tripura”, Deb said.

People of Tripura, who are now stuck in other states are tensed over the issue as they are urging to come back to states.

Although, Tripura Govt is giving fooding and lodging expenses to them per day, but ‘Home Returning’ has become matter of concerns for them.

In Tripura Bhawans of other states, many people are residing. Few are in hotels including patient parties.
