AGARATALA, April 10 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on yesterday visited two major hospitals and took stock of the latest COVID19 situation. The Chief Minister accompanied by Chief Secretary and Health officials reviewed the preparedness to deal with any eventuality. He held threadbare discussions with the officials on the preparations during his visit to GBP hospital.Later speaking to Media, he urged the citizens to cooperate with the medical professionals who are staying in rented in various parts of the state.“If we receive any complaint that any person is forcing any health professional to vacate house or asking for rent, the state government will take strict action. In today’s scenario, the persons engaged in essential services are working round the clock risking their lives. At such a situation, our first duty is to cooperate and encourage them,” the Chief Minister. He said, “the Government will take action against a section of nurses for disseminating confusion before media. The duty of nurse is not to run any hospital. There is a system and Medical Superintendent to run the healthcare services.

The nurses, being government employee, are not designated to share information with media.” He continued, “The experience of Medical Superintendent and other officers is more than the nurses. They know who needs to wear PPE. There is no shortage of any essential medical items including PPEs, Gloves and sanitizer in GBP hospital. But, a section of nurses created panic among others by spreading misleading information through media".

“All preparations are in place in the GBP hospital to deal with any eventuality. Besides, the health professionals are also working round the clock with dedication to fight the COVID19 pandemic,” the Chief Minister said.

“There is only one patient so far. And, samples of the family members of the patient have also been tested negative which is a good sign. I hope, there will be no fresh positive case in Tripura. But, we are leaving no stone unturned to deal any eventuality,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister had a telephonic conversation with the only patient, who is now undergoing treatment, during his visit to GBP hospital today.

“The patient said she is feeling well. I also apprised her that as per medical reports, her health condition is improving. I hope she will recover soon,” the Chief Minister said.

“Earlier the cleaning staffs were facing some issues. Such issues have been resolved. But, no issue is there in anywhere of the GBP hospital now,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also visited the IGM hospital to review the preparedness. He along with the Health officials inspected the proposed COVID19 isolation centre which is being set up with all necessary infrastructures.
