Gomati DM issues notice to CPI-M State Secretary over wrong information on COVID19 patient’s hospitalization history

UDAIPUR / AGARTALA, March 9 (TIWN): Tripura CPI-M State Secretary Gautam was issued a notice by Gomati District Magistrate Tarun Kanti Debnath for delivering wrong information over COVID19 patient’s history.

Reportedly, the CPI-M leader said that COVID19 patient was admitted in Gomati District hospital for 6 days but in reality, she was never admitted but visited the OPD.

In the issued notice, DM said, “You have stated the Patient (1st Corona Patient of the State) was admitted in Gomati District hospital for 6 days and District hospital failed to diagnose the Patient the disease. It is a sheer travesty of fact. Fact is the patient outdoor of District hospital on 3rd April, 2020 as per verbal statement of her husband on 6-4-2020. It was learnt form the hospital authority that the patient did not disclose any travel history to the Doctor though she was asked repeatedly”.

“You have also stated that the District hospital does not having kits and inadequate staff for pathological test. It is bring to your notice that the COVID19 test is done by (rRT-PCR) and only ICMR to undertake the test. The District hospitals are not required to have the test kit. They only collect samples and send to the designated lab for testing”, DM said in the notice.

“As per norms, sample of suspected patients are collected in Gomati District and being sent to AGMC. As of date 14 nos of samples of the persons who are quarantined at Home and Institutions have been collected and listed in AGMC. Had the patient disclosed her travel history, she should also have been under home quarantine and the disease would not have been  detected in time”, the letter added.

The letter further stated that such statements would generate panic in hospitals asking him to clarify the matter by 3 days of the letter issued.
