AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, March 29 (TIWN): Urban Development Dept Director, AMC Commissioner Sailesh Yadav on Sunday while interacting media said, “Total 4,082 food packets have been distributed across state’s urban areas on yesterday and the number likely to be increased. In Ranir Bazar rations are given for 7 days and in similar ways various projects are going on, but survey found that 1200 people are there who are actually immigrants from Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand like states. They are not getting any work and thus possibility of starvation are high there but I think if we serve them dry foods then they can cook. If Govt permits, we will start it from tomorrow”. He further said, “In Airport terminal construction over 500 workers are left workless. Now we are giving them cooked food but dry food will be better for them which they can cook by themselves”. Workers from West Bengal who are maximum hawkers by profession came to Tripura, stuck in nationwide lockdown, starving now. Today a complaint was given to local Amtali Police station. Getting informed, local police rushed to them and helped them with rice items. The workers broke down in tears as they are starving, alone here, leaving family far.

Due to sudden lockdown, they could not return home. Police said, Govt surely will take action to send them back. 

Tripura has stocks of 65 day's rice and wheat, 32 day's sugar, 26 day's salt, moosoor daal of 12 days.

State Govt is trying to mitigate the gap and it is being hoped that no crisis will happen with food items.

1000 food packets are being distributed to homeless, daily workers in average.

On Day-5, the crisis reports across state are coming out as amid ‘lathi-charge’ and ‘corona-virus’ disease fears, poor people are coming out of homes. Till now, Delhi, Kerala models have remained best for India with Delhi CM announced Rs. 5,000 allocation on immediate base with 2 times meals to each Delhi people. From rickshaw driver to milk sellers, all are coming out of home amid risks but no profit are seen. On being asked by media, maximum poor people said, no cash yet came to them and also various facilities which were promised yet to be started.
