AGARTALA, March 23 (TIWN): The opposition CPI-M MLAs have once again walked out of Tripura Assembly today after its questions were rejected to be discussed. After opposition left, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath addressed on 10323 teachers issue and Govt’s stand for them. Taking Addressing media, Manik Sarkar said, “Coronavirus has turned a deadly issue for allover the world led curfew in state. In the business advisory committee, they requested to shorten the Assembly Session. Our members did not oppose it as already due to Corona-Virus outbreak, emergency is going on. But in the topics of the discussion it was seen that only budget will be discussed in the Assembly, which itself a big topic which may kill maximum time. This long discussion process may cross evening which is very risky due to Corona-Virus threats. We demanded to shorten that part and requested Chief Minister what measures have been taken for Corona-Virus prevention and what steps have been taken for the poorâ€.
“Accordingly, Badal Chowdhury requested that only budget should be passed suspending other issues. I told the Assembly that we have many issues to discuss including poverty, crime against women, unemployment but due to coronavirus the Assembly should be shortened. Accordingly, after our request, we observed, the ruling party MLAs started vulgar comments which are unexpected. CM however gave statement on Coronavirus, which is not satisfactory but due to resource’s unavailability in our state, I said, we must seek support from Centre. We demanded relief for the people who are not Govt employees and poor including ration and moneys”.
“But, what the ruling did, their all issues are allowed to speak but our issues were not allowed to speak. It is clear that they will speak but the opposition will not be allowed to speak. This is totally opportunistic, misuse of majority. Speaker is not even looking at us and the burning issues of the state are denied”, said Manik Sarkar.
