NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, March 23 (TIWN): State Congress leader Gopal Roy has slammed the BJP led State Govt here not announcing any Free Ration distribution and door to door meals for the poor yet, when already other states have taken the measure. Addressing media, Congress leader Gopal Roy said, “I want to ask Chief Minister Biplab Deb whether did he arrange some rationing system and meals distribution door to door steps before launching such types of curfew ? What the poor people will eat ?†He further slammed BJP Govt and also Modi for asking people to play traditional equipment which led rallies on road. “Your Janata Curfew was broken by your message of beating instrumentsâ€, Gopal Roy told PM Modi via media.On the other side, the national Congress has slammed the Centre for exporting masks and ventilators for 10 times than its original price and alleged that it was allowed till March 19.
Chief Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala termed it "criminal conspiracy".
He tweeted: "Respected PM, This is Criminal Conspiracy! As WHO asked for stockpiling of Ventilators, Surgical Masks/Disposable Masks and Raw material for Masks/Coveralls, India permitted their export (at 10 times the price) uptill 19th March."Surjewala asked, "why it was allowed when the country is facing shortage of such items."
West Bengal government has mandated a partial work-from-home system for its employees and introduced a relief package for 7.9 crore people who get subsidised rations.
However, Chief Minister Biplab Deb has announced that Govt will announce soon a 15 days or 1 month special package for the poor during the lockdown situation.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the State government will create a ₹200 crore fund to tackle the coronavirus outbreak on Monday. She also announced that all educational institutions will be closed till April 15.
Delhi, Kerala and various other states have taken the same measure.
