AGARTALA, Feb 7 (TIWN): Although, Mizoram gone Bru community’s people have experienced horrifying outcomes and Tripura’s announced Rs. 600 crore package for Brus far from reality keeping ADC Election few months ahead, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi now openly drumming Brus’ credit to BJP backed campaigning for around 11,000 voters’ votes. Now BJP has started direct accusation to CPI-M administration in ADC areas for not solving Bru issue, although, CPI-M accepts clearly that it never appealed for Bru’s settlement in Tripura but never stopped rationing, whereas BJP Govt stopped ratioing for Brus led deaths of 6 people there recently. It was stopped until massive protests generated and all opposition parties stood together and Royal scion Pradyot Manikya announced that no Brus has to go back to Mizoram.

But question is, will BJP fulfill its promise to Brus as Tripura found a “cheat” party in form of BJP when it comes about Vision Document promise ?

PM Modi said in Parliament that as Brus votes are less, thus nonone cared for them.

On the other side, in the wake of an agreement to rehabilitate 34,000 Reang indigenous s -- living in northern Tripura after fleeing Mizoram 23 years ago due to ethnic unrest -- the names of around 11,000 voters among these refugees would be deleted from the electoral list in Mizoram.

Moreover, Bru leaders in Mizoram, who said they were representing over 1,900 families that returned to Mizoram from the six relief camps in Tripura during the government-sponsored first to seventh rounds, have demanded an equal package like those who were repatriated after the rehabilitation and resettlement packages as agreed in the July 3, 2018 quadripartite agreement.

It raises question, after ADC Election, what will be the condition of Tripura Brus ?

At the same time around 150 other community’s people left homeless, but PM didn’t mention anything about them.

Chairman of the Equal Package Demand Committee (EPDC) Elvis Chorkhy, founder leader of the Mizoram Bru Displaced People's Forum (MBDPF), the apex body of the Bru inmates in the relief camps, told TOI that they had repeatedly submitted representations to the Centre and Mizoram state government on the issue.
