AGARTALA, November 6 (TIWN): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state observer Sunil Deodar will arrive in the state on November 07 to launch the BJP membership drive campaign.
While talking to TIWN, BJP spokesperson Tapas Bhattacharjee said that the BJP will embark on an ambitious membership campaign in Agartala from tomorrow. It will aim at enrolling 1 lakh new members in the party.
"We will aim at including more youths in our party. It will strengthen our party further. Apart from the usual paper forms, people can also use online forms to apply for becoming a member of BJP," Bhattacharjee said.
He further said that BJP state President Sudhindra Das Gupta along with party members will launch the BJP membership in presence of BJP state observer Sunil Deodar on Friday morning. The membership drive campaign will start from November 8 across the state. At present a total of 10,000 members are working with BJP. The membership drive will continue till March 31, 2015.
The drive which will continue till March 31, 2015, is aimed at enrolling four times the existing party workers across the state.
It is to be mentioned here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 2nd launched a mega membership drive saying that people from all sections of society should feel they have a representative in the party. According to the BJP’s Constitution, the party renews the membership after every six years. And the party’s new membership drive aims at increasing its strength four times the current number. And as part of this the BJP state committee this year keeps eye on at least 1 lakh members.
