TIWN
AMBASSA, Nov 1 (TIWN) : Almost 30 years ago a devastating flood washed away the wooden bridge on the river Kulai at Kulai on Kamalpur-Ambassa road. On temporary and emergency basis the Border Road Organization (BRO) had built the present bailey bridge.
Naturally with the passing time the bridge became weak and so from NLCPR ( Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources) a fund of Rs. 5,30,00,00 rupees was provided for the construction of a new permanent bridge. BRO was selected as the implementing agency. The work started in November, 2007 and stipulated to be ended in March, 2010.
But still the bridge is just at the beginning and already four years passed after the stipulated period. Meanwhile, the existent bailey bridge become more weak and plying over this bridge has become more risky. But neither the BRO authority nor the District administration seems concerned about this negligence and resulting public inconvenience. In this situation, the joints and bolts of the bridge also become very loose and may cause serious and even life-snatching accident at any moment. It is also notable that, BRO has lingering the works of two more bridges on Kamalpur-Ambassa Road, one at Rakhaltali and another at Nakful. Mysteriously, the so-called dynamic state agministration is fingers’ crossed about all these negligence from the part of the implementing agency.
