Agartala, November 2 (TIWN): Central government has snubbed Tripura state on sector of power supply in uniform manner to its citizens on various perspectives, said state Power Minister Manik Dey here today despite Centre’s developmental moves to improvise overall productivity of electricity with thumping plant of Palatana OTPC project lately.

Power Minister Dey has lashed out on Centre for failed committed issues made by last UPA II government to develop power supply to several urban and rural locations of the country, but lurking doubts remain on whether Dey has prioritized state’s power sufficiency prior to focusing over dearth of power shortage in countrywide arena.

“50 percent of people in India lack proper supply of electricity in every household of the country, for which the last UPA government had committed to fulfill such a shortage of power supply during FY 2011/12. But this step has been a failed attempt being promised by them,” said Dey during the meet. However, Dey with his responsibilities has lacked the point to put forward the pros of Centre, which should develop the state on several socioeconomic grounds after installation and initiation of Palatana OTPC project in Tripura.

“If such conditions prevail in the nation with new BJP government in Centre overlooking the backwardness of power supply in households of the country, then the day isn’t far away when the top brass, elite class and renowned personalities shall only have access to electricity supply,” added Dey. However, questions may rise on why he has forecasted the broad shape the nation, rather by downplaying the good measures undertaken by Centre to enhance state’s power sector over last few years in since inauguration of Palatana power project on June, 2013 last.

The meeting organized by State Engineers’ Association, Tripura Engineers’ Association and Tripura Bidyut Karmachari Union was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation chairperson Prafullajit Sinha and Member of Parliament Shankar Prasad Datta.
