AGARTALA, Nov 13 (TIWN): Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called public (voters) as God in a phrase “Janata-Janardan” when he was addressing in a public rally before Assembly Election in Tripura, whereas after winning election, his party BJP here had chosen the path of violence, attacked public, bulldozed opposition party offices, various statues and unending tortures on the opposition which is still continuing statewide. Reacting over BJP’s attitude against the common men and agitators, former MP Jitendra Choudhury today in Agartala mass farmers’ rally said that just after a person bite by a dog, je reels under “Jalatanka” (rabies), in the same way, the BJP is reeling under “JANATANKA” that is fear about public.

The BJP Govt at the same time, announced there is no need of protests and rallies and the former MP has also mentioned about it. 

He said, “Farmers are the Anna-Data but the BJP not only in other states, in Tripura also has no concern about farmers’ real problems, except few publicities. Water-pumps left damaged for years, irrigation system in pathetic state, subsidies in various products are snatched, whereas before the election, the party promised to double farmers income”.

Choudhury also asked, if the Modi Govt can relax corporate taxes, why it can not do the same with farmers ?

CPI-M conducted the biggest ever rally, breaking record of September 15th rally in Agartala city, left the whole Agartala city paralyzed. Reportedly till 12 noon it crossed over 40,000 public gathering. The crowd was gathered voicing against BJP Govt’s inhuman decision of scrapping various subsidies to the farmers in agriculture related products. Govt allegedly here has also failed to compensate the farmers in the last 2 years losses due to disasters. CPI-M’s rally was joined by party workers from youth to main wings, who arrived from various corners of the state since early morning. Pictures of over-loaded trains, vehicles became viral in the morning.

The rally was led by top most CPI-M leaders including former Chief Minister, Politburo member Manik Sarkar.

BJP in its Vision Document promised to double farmers incomes in Tripura but so far instead of pleasing the farmers, it has generated resentments among the farmers section, along with other working sections people.

On April 7, 2019 media reported that MGNREGA mandays fell from 90% to 33% in Tripura in a comparison to the previous Left Govt, whereas unemployment problem has become triple.

The National Crime Records Bureau, Friday said that 11,379 farmers committed suicide in India in 2016. The NCRB in its latest Accidental Death and Suicide report for 2016 says that there were 948 farmer suicides every month, or 31 suicides every day.
