AGARTALA, Nov 5 (TIWN): The Congress is going to stage a nationwide protest from November 5-15, 2019 against the economic slowdown and failure of the BJP government to generate unemployment. In Assam the protest will be from November 6-9, 2019. Amid all jokes and trolled centering BJP’s cow and milk politics, the unemployment problem is truly worse than any other state in India. According to CMIE report published for the October month, 2019 most suffered state among all Indian states is Tripura whose unemployment rate is now 27.2%. Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has revealed its monthly data for Indian unemployment rate for October-2019, listing Tripura at the top position in unemployment rate.BJP Govt before voted to power in Tripura promised in written document that it will give 50000 govt jobs within one year of the Govt formation but the Govt only could gave around 1400 jobs reportedly along with thousands of terminations. 19% increase in unemployment rate in Tripura under BJP Govt has been reported by CMIE data.

Whereas under Manik Sarkar Govt it was only 8.5%, now under Biplab Deb it went at 27.2%

Tripura's unemployment graph from 2017-2019 (a monthly comparison)
October, 2017 (Left Govt ): 8.5 % unemployment
October, 2018 (BJP Govt) : 32. 4 % unemployment
October, 2019 (BJP Govt) : 27.2 % unemployment.

Addressing a press meet at Rajiv Bhawan Monday, AICC (All India Congress Committee) general secretary Avinash Pandey said, “Under the five-and-half-year-BJP rule unemployment rate in the country has reached a 45-year-high record of 8.1 percent. Besides the unprecedented economic slowdown, there has been a rise in prices of essential commodities, the collapse of the banking system, omnipresent farm distress, loss of jobs in government and private sectors, etc. The protest is to make people raise their voice and try to make this insensitive BJP government accountable for these large-scale miseries and sufferings.”

Pandey said, “An economic emergency has been in force in the country. The BJP government has made the economy collapse. None of the assurances given by the government could be translated into reality. Under the government that promised rehabilitation of unemployed youths unemployment rate is the highest-ever in the world now. Under the government that promised farmers’ progress, the farmers’ suicide rate has gone up. To highlight all such issues, we’ll also stage protest in Delhi in the first week of December.”

According to APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) sources, on November 6 the party will stage protest in front of the RBI in Guwahati and on November 7, 8 and 9 in all districts of the State.

Among others, CLP (Congress Legislature Party) leader Debabrata Saikia and former Assam Chief Minister Dr Bhumidhar Barman were present at the press meet.
