AGARTALA, Nov 1 (TIWN): BJP Govt's 18 months rule turned Tripura a criminals paradise, Law & Order in peril. Expressing concerns about the law and order issues, Tripura former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today told media that such sensitive, critical issues should not escape media coverage. Sarkar today visited Ramnagar, Agartala and where various houses were attacked on yesterday night. Manik Sarkar met the family members, talked to police and also was seen to ask a police official whether does it look good if police are slammed by police, public become insecure of police ? Sarkar told media, “This area is known as minority population. For long 50 to 60 years they are residing here by maintaining peace and harmony. There are poor, middle class populations maximum. There was never any disruption in the peace but everyone knows, how they were attacked after the Govt was changed in the last Assembly Election. This is not acceptable.
Police if are informed they come to the spot but after there is no proper action, but there must be certain actions and security arrangements. So Police’s role is totally undemocratic. If minority undergoes insecurity then it’s the weakness of our democracy”.
“There is no justification of why people will not feel secure under the democracy. They are parts and parcels of the country”, said Manik Sarkar.
Tripura national media Journalists chosen to keep silent over Police brutality in Badal Chowdhury case.
He also told media that these families didn’t call the CPI-M party but the leaders led by him have visited the area at own will, because people are in such a situation that they are afraid just for the next attack.
On being asked by media about Badal Choudhury case, Manik Sarkar said, today this is not the issue and media most welcome for his comment at the appropriate spot.
It can be mentioned here that Police have displayed unnecessary inhumanity against former CPI-M Minister Badal Choudhury and led him again hospitalized after he was stretched from a private hospital to West Agartala PS on October 30. Whereas from Bishalgrah to across the state BJP’s violence left the law and order paralyzed police failed to take any action against ruling party workers.
On this ground, Manik Sarkar today also talked to police and asked to do their duties in proper way. He also asked police for patrolling for few nights.
