AGARTALA, Oct 15 (TIWN): Calling it a politically motivated case, advocates of former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury said, “The issue is of 2008 which was outcome of a cabinet decision, approved by Public Accounts Committee later. So there is no ground of the case, but we will see the issue later and till now we were working for the bail as FIR was lodged, but this is totally politically motivated caseâ€.
Court on yesterday accepted interim bail of former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury but at night violating court’s order police rejected the bail plea of the former Minister.
The FIR was filed based on Rs. 600 crore’s alleged scam asking why 10% extra was paid to outsider companies in those constructions which included bridge, buildings but the record was revealed which is clearly stating that all payments were decided in the Cabinet meeting, alter approved PAC.
In 2008, 23rd June Finance Dept called a meeting, where Law Secretary, Senior Secretaries from various depts as industry etc stay as members of work advising committee and their decisions are highest. There is no right of Minister , although Badal Choudhury observed the meeting and in that meeting 10% extra payment issue was discussed.
Then new Govt came and new Public Accounts Committee was formed. All matters went to the Public Accounts Committee. The committee examined all works till 2013-14.
BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman also told media on yesterday when the hearing was going on at West District Court, that in the chargesheet there was no name of Badal Choudhury submitted by police linking the scam but how his name came or how police searching for him, it’s confusing.
