AGARTALA, October 29 (TIWN): Finally Education Minister, Tapan Chakraborty had admitted that, the scam of more than Rs. 3 crore rupees had taken place at Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) under Education Department. On other hand, some major instructions had also been issued by the Government, so that in future, no such corruption would be given shelter.

In reply to the question raised by the reporters on the ground that, why no proper actions were taken by other accused, Minister replied that, instructions had been given to the police to take proper action against the accused. However, on the other side, “the Government had also issued some instructions to stop corruption”- Mr. Chakraborty further mentioned. The preventive measures to stop corruption are:-

1)      In future, all the financial transactions would be done through cheque. Even, if the amount is five hundred, in that case also cheque should be issued.

2)      Proper monitoring should be done on regular basis over cash book, bank cheque book etc.

3)      And last but not the least, Cheque book should always be kept under the supervision of DDO.

It is to be mentioned here that earlier police had seized all the accounts of Arnab Chakrabrorty, his wife Sangeeta and mother Kajal Rani Chakraborty, and other top officials. In the meantime, Arnab’s mother got bail. Though Arnab was further known to have told investigators during interrogation that his superiors prompted and encouraged him to withdraw money by forging the funds kept under his jurisdiction. But still now. No action had been taken against them.

Earlier, Joint Director of School Education and Additional State Mission Director (ASMD) of Rashtriya Madhyamik Sikhsa Abhiyan (RMSA), Manabendra Chakraborty lodged an FIR (File no-F.18(2)- DSE/CELL/2013) against cashier Arnab Chakraborty where he was accused of making forgery of the signs of ASMD to withdraw money. He is also charged for issuing an appropriation letter demanding authority of receiving all the cheques and payments of RMSA. The authority of Tripura State Co-operative Bank could guesstimate the wrongdoings and accordingly they contacted the Director of RMSA. In order to show the proof, the bank officials produced copy of bearer cheque in the name of Arnab Chakraborty (bearing No.01756) against which Rs 11 lakhs 72 thousand was drawn by him on last September.
