Agartala, October 29 (TIWN): Tripura government has remained persistent with dithered moves to control crime against women in state with rising number on cases of human trafficking, rape, molestation and abduction in recent years.

The administration has failed to maintain a stronghold on managing to cut short every day growing numbers of atrocities against the women in state. Altogether 821 incidents of crime against women were registered during 2008-09 in Tripura, flashed a data mentioned by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.

Replying to a question in the Assembly, Sarkar stated that 821 cases were registered then, out of which charge-sheets were submitted in 765 cases while 32 of them are still being investigated. However, the recent Chandrapur Tata Kalibari incident where assault on Soma Majumder (Debnath) that kept the image of the state in tainted condition till continue to resurface ashamed outlook of Tripura related to security for its women civilians.

Moreover, rape of a minor girl aged 15 at Kailashahar yesterday has still not raised the alarm of administration with its reluctant measures on these cases and has often fallen to the deaf ears of state government due to several societal curtains women draw, despite the state being labeled as being ‘Every 2nd day rape is conducted in Tripura’.

Though rape cases have had stormed the Centre on several instances; but for Tripura, such issues get lighted like a blinking candle for laidback governance of Leftist government here for over a decade now, despite the thumping literacy rate of over 90 percent in the state.

Points could be raised here on how the state administration would face such humiliation, if literacy rate and crime against women are placed simultaneously to judge development of humanity in culture of civilians with a different outlook towards structuring thought process to change the snubs Tripura may predict for maintaining dignity towards women in state.
