Rs. 50 crore MGNREGA Scam of Bishalgarh R.D Block: Hearing on PIL submitted by the Cong scheduled today at High Court

Agartala, October 28 (TIWN): On the basis of the filing of PIL by the Tripura Pradesh Congress, the tentative date scheduled for the hearing is set up on Wednesday. On behalf of the Congress the case to be prosecuted by the two renowned advocates from Kolkata.Earlier, a delegation of Congress led by Opposition Leader- Sudip Roy Barman Monday filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) at Tripura High Court seeking CBI probe into the MGNREGA scam worth Rs 50 crore in Bishalgarh RD block.Before that ,Congress alleged that state police are lagging behind to conduct an impartial investigation into this multicrore scam and only CBI can make a breakthrough in this case.Surrender of main culprit, Bimal Chakraborty before the court was nothing but an attempt of match fixing to safeguard the main accused persons.

Even more FIR named accused persons are still at large. According to the sources, the SDJM court, Bishalgarh has already issued arrest warrant against all the accused persons.

After the submission of PIL, the High Court mentioned the scheduled date of hearing to be on Wednesday. Advocate Joydeep Kar and Subhranil Chowdhury shall undertake the case.

In the meantime, a delegation of Congress leaders went to Kolkata and requested a special audit report by the officers of AG Department. The special audit report claimed that the scam is Rs 50 crore and there is chance of increase of this amount. After that the report was handed over to the delegation team. This was presented by Congress in the High Court, at the time of filing the PIL. On the otherhand, Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman met Tripura Governor PB Acharya at Raj Bhawan and highlighted the financial irregularities in Bishalgarh RD Block. During the meeting, Barman said that the state government did not take any stern action against the officials involved in the scam; and added further mentioning involvement of Finance Minister Bhanu Lal Saha is visible.

It is to be mentioned her that, after exactly a month and three days since incumbent BDO Subrata Das lodged FIR against BDO Bimal Chakraborty and 11 others in Bishalgarh P S alleging misappropriation of MGNREGA fund of Rs 17 crore, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's specially favoured aide 'Bimal' ultimately surrendered before court of the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Purander Prasad Pal.SDJM granted 5 days of police remand to Bimal Chakraborty, Again on yesterday after the completion of five days remand, Bimal was again produced before the court, where he was again sent to five days remand appealed by the police.
