AGARTALA, Sep 30 (TIWN): Tripura’s brutal gang-rape incident on September 24 night which has horrified the whole nation, had been trying to influence politically to suppress the investigation since Day-1 when 3 police stations did not lodge FIR of the rape victim after one BJP MLA allegedly threatened police officials not to lodge FIR after the rape incident took place. Public are now shocked to see BJP MP(via rigging) Pratima Bhowmik who just have delivered an unlawful statement which she can not give by raising at the authenticity of the Gang- Rape victim’s statement. When survived victim’s husband’s full support remained with the victim, in an interview with local TV channel “News Icon”, Pratima Bhowmik first said, “There is almost no similarity between the rape victim’s statement and actual incident”, then immediately rectifying herself she said, “Actually light unmatch. So, I want, police should do the proper investigation and I know police will do !”

"Now. The main question, how does Pratima Bhowmik know that there is no similarity between victim’s statement and incident ? How does she know about the details of the rapists movement ?”

Investigation was in lethargy since the beginning and first 24 hours there was no FIR Later when the accused persons arrested, public came against police’s move of taking each rape accused to court by covering their faces with block colour so that nobody can recognize them and two sent under “Juvenile Justice Board”, whereas in other cases police even before producing in the court displays the accused faces.

The main person who is backing the 10 rape accused, in 2014 against whom charges of murdering own brother Biswajit Bhowmik’s wife Chabi Debnath was imposed and also dowry charges were against her and recently a video was shared where she is openly threatening IPS Officer Kiran Kumar to kill him on spot saying in Hindi, “Maar dalega hum Tereko abhi”. When such lady interferes in any sensitive case, how far police can do fair investigation it can be easily understood.

“I condemn the incident, but there are massive unmatches between her (Gang-Rape victim) talks and incident. You will know soon what is the truth, because there are massive intrigues going on to defame the Government. I hope the truth will be revealed soon”, Bhowmik said.

“It’s Govt’s work to control conspiracy. I have talked to her husband and also doctor. So, the truth should come out”, said Bhwomik.

However, seems anything is possible when criminal grips power, just like in Unnao rape case at Uttar Pradesh so many innocents had to be victimized under the corrupt system of Aditynath Yogi just in the process of justice including the Lawyer of the victim.

This trend introduced by Pratima Bhowmik today which is called “Victim Blaming” was never a trend in Tripura.

It can be mentioned here that when the accused persons were produced before the court in Sep 24’s Usha Bazar gang-rape incident, public raised question why their faces are covered with clothes whereas in other cases from Day-1 accused persons faces are revealed.

BJP supporting advocates too have condemned in social media for sending minors in “juvenile justice board” on Day-1.

After her statement, hardly any Rape Victim will dare to file complaint as it may cause character assassination of the victim. In such a sensitive issue, how even before investigation is completed a leader can deliver such statement, it has triggered questions among public. Pratima Bhowmik is now trolled across social media.
