AGARTALA, Sep 26 (TIWN): In Tripura’s history this first time one after one gang rape incidents in the capital city Agartala has horrified the State. Once again a gang rape incident committed by at least 10 rapists on Sep 24 night on the outskirts of Agartala city at Ushabazar shocked the people, Such ghastly gangrape dismissed the much hyped claim of the State BJP Govt that “Crime against women decreased in Tripura”. Criminalization of politics in Tripura has turned the matter worse as in this gang-rape incident after much pressures from the opposition although 4 persons are arrested out of 10, but the action is yet on delay as tainted ‘Baghubali’ MLA against whom TIWN published various exposing news has allegedly threatened police, pressurized at 3 police stations which has denied justice to the victim. The victim who is fighting with death now at TMC Hospital, while talking to media describe how brutally she was raped and each rapist raped her multiple times after she was taken to a jungle in a pre-plan way via an auto in which she was riding to go to home. At first Rape victim housewife took the auto at GB to reach her home at Arundhuti Nagar and the known driver took the auto towards Nehru park.

When she asked, the driver said, a person will give him money and thus he taking the auto there but as soon as the driver reached near Nehru park and called someone in phoned named Santu, two men came and sat in the auto and pressed her mouth.

The auto ran in high speed and entered a jungle and then she could not recognize the spot. She was threatened to be murdered on spot and brutally gang-raped her.

TMC Doctor said, such brutal case was never seen in this hospital.

Throughout the day, no Minister, no Women Commission member met the victim whereas opposition leaders were seen in the hospitals. Congress leaders led by Subal Bhwomik, former CM Manik Sarkar, former CPI-M Minister Ratan Bhowmik, Badal Choudhury too met the victim family at TMC hospital.

Since 18 months just like MP(via rigging) Pratima Bhowmik, MLA Ram Prasad Pal’s hooligan threats to Police officials forcing Police to remain mute spectators in serious crime cases involving their own criminals. 

Former CM Manik Sarkar’s wife, Social activist Panchali Bhattacharjee said, in state like Tripura such horrifying incident and it is in the capital city Agartala never heard earlier. This is really dangerous sign and matter of concern.

Rape Victim said, the rapists while calling each other few names were heard as Pradip, Basu, Akash, Santu. Due to brutal rape she lost her consciousness. The rapists thrown her in a spot and when she came to senses, she managed to call her family members and they rescued her from there. The victim family first went to AD Nagar PS, the NCC PS, the West Agartala PS, then West Women PS but no police station lodged FIR. When she was admitted in TMC hospital, the news spread and then East Women PS lodged FIR.

Total 4 persons arrested so far out of pressure but more are yet to be arrested.

Heavy controversy erupted against police official lameduck role and the safety in the Agartala city who were provided with bikes to monitor the law and order.

In last one year 240 rape cases were lodged across Tripura Police stations.

CPI-M demanded BJP’s ‘Bahubali’ MLA’s immediate arrest for threatening police stations so that no FIR is filed.
