AGARTALA, Sep 26 (TIWN) : In an unpredicted move, Tripura Police in Agartala (Tripura) suddenly stopped a Dalit-movement organized by Communist party when the rally was ready for marching towards the Governor house with 9 points of demands. The Dalit-movement schedule was campaigned by Communist party for last few days and also the programme-schedule was reported in media but at the high time police told the Communist leaders that the rally can not proceed and asked them to finish the agitation programme at the gathering spot. It generated massive resentments among the agitators, echoed slogans, "Tripura Police Haay, Haay...." Later, calling a press conference, CPI-M’s Dalit leader MLA Sudhan Das said, “Police have no fault. They are under tremendous pressure. We blame the Govt”.Reportedly, CPI-M’s “Raj Bhawan Abhiyan” rally on Wednesday which was all set to proceed towards the Raj Bhawan since 11 AM with 9 points of demands. The movement which was all set to kick off with around 10,000 people and was scheduled to place a deputation before Tripura Governor Ramesh Bais, was cancelled at around 12 noon when all were standing to rows to walk towards the Governor house.

CPI-M leaders were seen discussing a matter with police for long and after half an hour of debate with police, CPI-M leaders told their workers to sit on the ground as the rally was cancelled by police.

Former Chief Minister, Leader of the Opposition, Politburo Manik Sarkar asked the comrades to maintain the peace and not to create any chaos.

Why the rally was cancelled, however has not yet briefed to the media by Police, but BJP in its social media said, CPI-M didn’t take permission from police for the rally, whereas CPI-M denied the allegation of BJP.

CPI-M Dalit leader Sudhan Das slammed the BJP Govt saying, “The BJP is so much afraid of CPI-M that they are now started cancelling rallies”

Sudhan Das said, “By such moves, nobody can stop the Leftist movement. As much the BJP will stop us, we will move back again and again. CPI-M will regain power in Tripura by unseating the BJP”.

Slogans of “Inquilab Zindabad” raised higher and higher after the rally was cancelled.

This rally was announced before one month and was granted under police permission, said MLA Ratan Bhowmik. After that police reportedly two times changed the rally's direction. CPI-M leaders agreed with police but when the rally was all set to march, Police asked CPI-M 'not to march' any rally today and to complete the protest programme here only.

MLA Ratan Bhowmik slammed the Police, saying, "Shame on such police dept which can not take a decision properly"

CPI-M’s Dalit wing ‘Tafashili Jati Unnayan Samiti’ announced to hoist the biggest ever Dalit movement in Agartala on Wednesday demanding rights for backward class people along with 9 more demands, scheduled to be placed to the Governor Ramesh Bais, however, has been cancelled today.

While agitating, CPI-M leader Ratan Das said, “Across the country, severe attacks on Dalits are carrying out specially since the Modi Govt came in power at Centre. Everyday at average 9 Dalits are murdered and 19 women are raped. Increasing honour-killing are at rise which victimized Amrita and Pranay, by killing Pranay mercilessly. In July month, Sakshi Mishra, daughter of BJP legislator Rajesh Mishra, marrying a man outside her caste was attempted to be murdered. Another 22 years boy was burnt by petrol with a same cause. In Tripura’s Bishalgrah Madan Nama was beaten so brutally that he died. Sukhu Gour, another Dalit was killed merciless by BJP miscreants. Prasanna Bhattacharjee’s daughter married a non-Brahmin man and after 2 years when she came with her husband to home at Kumarghat, BJP, RSS supporters rushed to their home and attacked them and the Brahmin family was outcasted from that area. It is our duty to raise voice for the Dalits and CPI-M will continue raising voices”.

The movement was also reasoned to be against privatization of Govt institutions, but at the ultimate time it was cancelled. Manik Sarkar was seen telling senior CPI-M leaders, “They (Police / ruling Govt) want to instigate a chaos. Let us maintain the peace”.

Earlier also the Govt cancelled various rallies of the opposition which were battled in the High Court.
