Agartala, October 28 (TIWN): Chief Justice of High Court, Mr. Deepak Gupta sought police report on Chandrapur Tata Kalibari incident. Chief Judicial Magistrate of West Tripura District is instructed to submit the report soon.
Earlier, The FIR named accused persons of Chandrapur, Tata Kalibari incident surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court. The victim Soma Majumder (Debnath) had lodged an FIR against 18 persons after she has been humiliated and molested publicly.
Under the immense pressure, created by public, media and different political organizations, the police finally added non-bailable sections 354(B) for outrage of modesty, 394 for robbery and 109 abetment of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against all the 18 FIR named accused persons. On the eve of Laxmi puja, Soma Majumder was barbarically tortured by alleged cadres of ruling front at Tata Kalibari area of Chandrapur under East Agartala police station.
On the same evening, the victim had logged an FIR against 18 persons in this regard at East Agartala police station but all the accused persons were granted bail at police station itself. The 17 accused persons those surrendered before the court and Partha Majumder were sent to jail custody. The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) has cancelled the previous bail orders and ordered the Investigation Officer (IO) to arrest accused persons.
In the meantime Councilors of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) had submitted a deputation to the East Agartala Women P.S. They raised various demands against the safety of women in the state as well as immediate action against the culprits connected with the Chandrapur Tata Kalibari incident. The victim also personally met with the Governor to play out the brutal torture on her.
