AGARTALA, Sep 14 (TIWN): Reacting over BJP Govt’s unchanged decision of scrapping Free-Medical-Service in poverty gripped state Tripura’s Government hospitals after 8 days of the notification issued, Tripura Congress President Pradyot Bikram Manikya asked whether the BJP before election raised the “Cholo Paltai” slogan to bring negative changes like ‘price hikes’, ‘imposition of taxes’ and ‘scrapping Free Medical Services’ ? The Congress top leader was addressing in Badharghat by-election campaigning today.

Tripura Congress has demanded total restoration of free-medical-service in Tripura Govt hospitals which was existing in the state already.

Immediately after the notification of Health Dept released on September 6 imposing fees on the medical services and tests including food served to the patients, the Congress State President expressed shocks saying instead of expanding the facilities and developing the infrastructure, how the BJP Govt chosen to scrap the existing minimum services ?

Since September 6 a Govt notification scrapped all Free Medical Services, statewide protests took place and many people deprive of medical service which included ‘death’ of a lower-middle-class man named Pramod Modok in the GB hospital, although Govt later  denied the charge and clarified that the whole notification was leaked which was never implemented. BJP Govt argued claiming that it was just a draft with few typing errors.

Congress said that protests against this inhuman decision of the Govt will be increasing day by day.
