Agartala, October 27 (TIWN): Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital interns sit-in-demonstration based on 3-point chartered demands against Tripura state government here in state capital today.
The primary focus of their demands prioritizes over increment of stipend money from Rupees eight thousand to Rupees twelve thousand every month, the students of AGMC also demanded for increased stipend pending since March 2014 and finally hit the nail on coffin of the governmental official maintaining medical department with payment to be made within first week of every month.
The interns’ point stand valid on ground if compared with other states where their attendance was overlooked by medical department of state officials. The last increment was made over three years back when AGMC interns’ stipend money was incremented from Rupees five thousand to Rupees eight thousand. But, the state government has stayed mum on this occasion on this matter, which has tested the patience of interns for ultimate uproar.
The basic amenities of the AGMC interns depend on this stipend fund, which is least in this state. The stipends received by interns of Manipur RIMS are Rupees 15,200, Guwahati Medical College Rupees 18,000, Delhi Lady Herding Rupees 18,000, Kerala’s Trivandrum Medical College Rupees 15,000 and for various Medical colleges in West Bengal ranges from Rupees 16,000 to 18,000.
It has boiled the AGMC interns after wait of over three years when their requests have repeated fallen in deaf ears of the administration.
