AGARTALA, Sep 6 (TIWN): 19 days ahead of Tripura By-Election in Badharghat constituency, tension generated after common men blocked road at Aralia after a locally respected person named Bipad Bandhu Rishidas was severely beaten by miscreants on yesterday night and also threatened him to be killed. Local people came in protest as except political identity Rishidas also is well-reputed person. The locals blocked road, burnt tires in agitation demanding arrest of the culprits behind this incident. CPI-M has directly blamed BJP for the attack. The attack took place on yesterday night around 9 pm at the Panchabati market of Aralia at the outskirts of Agartala. Later, local people took him in hospital and saved his life. Today the agitators said, unless and until the culprits are arrested they will not leave the place. The situation turned worse when few BJP leaders were seen to who came to console the agitators.

The by-election for the 14-Badharghat Legislative Assembly constituency (SC) will be held on September 23. The seat had become vacant after the demise of BJP MLA Dilip Sarkar.Along with Tripura, by-polls will be held for the Hamirpur seat in Uttar Pradesh, Dantewada in Chhattisgarh and Pala in Kerala on September 23.

Total 71 polling stations will be in the Badharghat 14 constituency and on the election date i.e. 23rd September VVPAT and EVMs will be like normal elections.Preparations for the election has been started by State Election commission for the vacated seat in Badharghat.

The counting of votes will be held on September 27.

CPI-M, BJP, Congress all have submitted nominations.

Model code of conduct has come in effect in 14-Badhaghat constituency.

Election in Tripura has now become a major concern due to massive political violence occurred in all the elections recently held including Lok Sabha Election. Also this time, MLA Ram Prasad Pal was seen alltime in the Election campaigning which may turn the situation again worse as Ram Prasad Pal is master in election rigging, hooliganism and also multiple times on camera threatened cops in election period.
